David Combs, Video Producer, Spirit AeroSystems 2010

Asher Huey, New Media Specialist, New Partners 2010

"We were anxious for feedback from our new client - especially since their audio requests were challenging. But you must have N-A-I-L-E-D it because they LOVED it and are coming back for more now! Thanks Debbie, your voice makes us sound great!"

David Goldberg, Director, Edge Studio, 2010

"I've used a ton of creative talent over the years and no one comes close to Debbie. Her voiceover range is impressive ... I don't know how she is able to evoke so many different tones, personas and emotions. Unlike other voiceover artists, she is exceptionally smart, customer- focused, has unbounded energy and really cares about the quality of the whole finished product....not just her contribution to it. I would recommend Debbie's services without reservation."

Daniel Greenberg, Chief Marketing Officer, TrialPay, 2009

"Thank you again for working on the NDSS Buddy Walk® PSA project. I have heard rave reviews from Walk organizers who can’t wait to get the spot placed on the radio."

Rebecca Switalski, National Buddy Walk Director, National Down Syndrome Society, 2009

"Hi Debbie, just wanted to let you know that our emotional voice expert listened to your recordings today, and thought they are FANTASTIC!! Thanks so much for your good work!"

Mor Nahum, Posit Science, 2009

Debbie is a new addition to our roster of voice over talent – quite a great find. She is not only a pleasure to work with, but, on a recent national spot for the National Down Syndrome Society, followed direction very well and proved to be able to maintain stamina and consistency during an extremely long session."

Jacques Boulanger, President and Owner, Creative Audio Post, 2009

"I worked with Debbie on a freelance gig providing character voices for an Audio Tour at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Debbie's reading was so good, I stayed after my session was done just to listen. I've been in the business for decades and it is rare to hear someone who can deliver exactly what a part calls for so quickly and so well. (The producers were equally impressed.)"

Walter Dixon , Owner , Instant Audio Production and Voice-overs , 2008

"Debbie delivered for us with a smart warm interpretation of the script....all the best qualities for delivering the emotional hard sell....and she made us laugh to boot!"

Martha Pfeffer, Independent Producer, 2008

"We are very pleased with your work! Thanks again for doing such a great job."

Peter Sisson, Founder and CEO Toktumi, Inc, 2008

"Debbie 'gets' it. She's a talented wordsmith in her own right, so she didn't just read my script -- she brought it to life. On a more practical level, she re-jiggered her schedule to meet (actually beat) my ridiculous deadline. Can't wait to work with her again."

David Simon, President, WeComply, Inc, 2008

"I have known Debbie as a voice talent since 2002. She's not only smart and funny... she's a true professional. Cool under pressure and willing to go for that extra 'take' behind the microphone. I always look forward to working with her."

Frank Piazza, President, Audio Paint Ltd, 2008

"Each time I cast a voice for a job after I find a great voice I always wonder if the voice over talent I picked will understand the idea and bring something special to the idea. Debbie has the voice, but she has something more, She's conceptual. She really gets it. And is able to surprise me with something I never thought of. That's the value I look for."

Tony DeGregorio, Brand Consultant, Formerly Chief Creative Officer Publicis, 2007

"Debbie was a pleasure to work with. Her professionalism was demonstrated by her versatility and her attunement to the needs of the piece. She did an excellent job!"

Morgan Robinson, Co-Director and Co-Producer of the documentary,
THE BANKO SCHOOL PROJECT, with Birdgirl Productions, 2007

"In my 30 years in advertising, I've worked with some really great voice overs, including Orson Wells, Tammy Grimes and James Earl Jones. Debbie Irwin's ability to take direction, to provide creative interpretation, her voice quality and above all her professionalism, puts her among those voice overs that can add immeasurably to the success of a project. Thank you, Debbie!"

Paul Solovay, Creative Director, Public Service Associates, Inc, 2007

"Debbie really adapted to exactly what we were looking for. Her wide range in voice separates her from the rest."

Brantley Jones, Associate Director, Sales And Marketing, Adesso Condominiums, Columbia, South Carolina, 2007

"Debbie, I wanted to extend a personal thanks to you. Your dedication and professionalism to our video effort was unparalleled. The end product was better than we expected and we really appreciate everything you did for us."

London Matusiak, Marketing Manager, Vitech Systems Group, 2007

"We found Debbie online and thought her smooth and sexy appeal would work well for a corporate video narration. Debbie had a finished voiceover to us in less than two days and was a pleasure to work with. I’d go back to her in crunch time for sure."

Jason Brewer, CEO- Brolik Productions Inc. in Philadelphia, 2007

"Debbie is a delight to have in the studio. Her professionalism and impresive range are tremendous assets to any project, as is her sense of humor!"

Lea-Beth Shapiro, Producer, 2006

"When innovative technology company Dragonfly, and its client Architecture for Art, joined forces to create an engaging and interactive website, they needed a unique voice to capture the essence of both company's characters. Inspiring trust, honest, femininity, strength and elegance, Debbie Irwin's talent is matched only by her professionalism."

Liane Nouri, Editor in Chief, Architecture for Art
Guy Nouri, President and Founder of Dragonfly, 2006

About Debbie

Who am I? Think of me like a big, tall, strong tree. A tree with lots of branches. My roots are in Chicago.... Where I had, and continue to have, the benefit of a family therapist for a mom and a forensic scientist for a dad. We lived in Italy and Mexico, which is how I'm able to speak Spanish and Italian (and explains my love of travel).

My passion for theatre started at a young age. Being the third out of 4 kids, performing was my way to be heard. So I did. A lot. At home, at school and at The University of Chicago, where I spent a lot of time since I lived in the neighborhood. Hyde Park was a cool place even before Barak Obama became our President!

When it was time to leave the nest, and branch out on my own, I flew east to Brown University where, you guessed it, I continued to train and perform, while getting a BA in Semiotics. Don't ask me what it is. I'm not too sure and most of the semioticians I know have a hard time explaining it as well! After I graduated I figured it was time to take a stab at my dream in the dreamiest of all places, New York City. So I went. And struggled. And did some classical comedy. And struggled. And did some children's theatre. And struggled some more. Then I got tired of struggling and set my sights to finding a real job, with a real pay check so I could have a real life.

The Guggenheim Museum hired me in their public relations department, to work with the press, the public and coordinate special events. It was great to learn about the art and be surrounded by it day in and day out. (I love the visual arts and am a collector of Trade Signs, but I digress.) After a few years I was hungry to learn about finance and wanted to share that knowledge with other women, in particular. (Studies show we outlive our husbands so the sooner we learn, the better, right?!) So I went to work for Dean Witter and later Smith Barney and had a great career as a stockbroker. (Remember Black Monday? Me too. But let's not go there!) After building a wonderful group of clients I left Wall Street... for Sesame Street when I started to have kids. 3 of them. They're now big teenage kids. And I am a lucky mom.

Then, 7 years ago, I got the itch to learn again (like every day isn't a learning experience raising children?), and that's when I found a class in voiceovers. Instantly I knew I had found the vine that would weave in and around all of my branches linking them together. My work as a voice over artist draws on all of them and has me enjoying growth spurts in myriad directions. Museum audio tours, yep. Brain plasticity programs, yep. eLearning modules, good ol' fashioned commercials and kids' books, yes, yes and yes. Corporate videos, uh huh. Even those annoying phone answering systems-- I do them all. And I couldn't be happier. I love what I do because it takes me in new directions everyday, meeting new people, learning more about the world. So... that's me in a nutshell, from a big, glorious, still growing, reaching-for-the-sky tree.
